What is TEA

Following a public meeting on the 28th November 2012, the Throwley Events Association (TEA) has been formed with the aim to coordinate and support community social events in the Parish. The TEA Committee has been established with Ela & Adam Jastrzebski as Joint Chairmen, Louise & Steve Hadlow as Joint Vice Chairmen, John Hamlin as Treasurer, and Laurie Evanson-Goddard as Secretary.

TEA has been officially registered as an unincorporated association with TEA Rules.

In the past, volunteering to run the Throwley Fete meant a huge learning path, which only made sense when doing it for a number of years. Very few people with right skills could afford such a long term commitment. Recently, various legal requirements to run public events have been introduced, which made the task even more demanding. TEA has addressed those problems by setting up a suitable organisational structure, proper documentation of all its actions, and creating clear re-usable “templates” to organise the events, in particular the Fete. It meant more work in the first forming year, but far easier job in the future years. An annual change of TEA leadership is possible now without the danger to its continuity. People can dip-in and dip-out, dependent on their personal circumstances.

The first TEA Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Friday 21st February, 2014 in Throwley Church.  The agenda, notes and full report can be found in the subpages AGM 2014, TEA Report 2013 and TEA Accounts 2013.
